In August, a new mainnet release happened, fixing bugs from the initial Swarm 1.0 release, and improving the performance and stability of the network. Some new features were added too. Make sure to update your nodes and check the release notes.

The ecosystem track was busy organising the Swarm Summer School ’21. This 5-days-long event was packed with interesting talks, presentations, and workshops. Each day focused on a specific topic, relevant to people who build their projects on Swarm. You can watch the recordings of the event on Youtube.

  • Version 1.1.0 went live to mainnet
  • Working on improving network stability…

The first class of the Swarm Summer School has graduated. In the past week, speakers from all sides of project development have been conducting talks and workshops. Swarm Association congratulates every participant for investing their time in sharing their knowledge.

The organisers would like to thank Melanie Rieback, Alexis Roussel, Michiel de Jong, Elad Verbin, Eknir, Viktor Tron, Gregor Žavcer, Mustafa Mahmutovic, Fatemeh Fannizadeh, Silke Noa Elrifai, and Alexander Partin for their interesting lectures, helpful advice and for taking the time to educate the students. They enabled discussions about new governance and business models, coding paradigms, societal shifts, legislation and…

This year has seen the Swarm project advancing at great pace towards launch, and Swarm Association is excited to announce a new round of grant recipients that will be taking the network to new places. The projects reflect the common endeavours towards a fair data economy and it is exciting to see this growing ecosystem establishing itself among enthusiasts.

What kind of projects are eligible to apply for a Swarm grant?

  • Experimental and playful
  • Interoperable with other applications
  • Giving the user control over data
  • Aligned with principles.fairdatasociety.org
  • Free and open source

After receiving grant applications for 18 incredible projects, Swarm…

On 21 June 2021, Swarm released its first mainnet client. Today, Swarm is releasing a new version 1.1.0, fixing bugs and adding four new features.

Four testnet releases during the summer

Testnet and mainnet are two different environments. Some new network behaviours appeared after mainnet launch. With the community’s feedback and some heavy coding by the Bee team, it was possible to resolve most hiccups and performance. Four new releases were rolled out to the testnet. After significant testing done by both the Bee team and the community, Adami v1.1.0 is being released today. …

TL;DR

- the school starts on Monday, 23 August 2021 (each day from 15:00 to 18:00 CET)
- each day has lectures and workshops
- days are divided into topics (social, business, tech, legal, and demo day)
- speakers from the Swarm team and outside Swarm Association
- check the schedule and programme timetable at the end of the document

As you probably know, the Swarm Summer School is happening next week, starting on Monday 23 August 2021. This blog post will present the programme and schedule for the week, to illustrate the dynamics and what to expect.

Before we…

July was paved with learning for the Swarm team. The Swarm 1.0 release was deployed to the mainnet for the first time and close observation on performance, bugs, and stability issues was needed to make sure everything is working as it should.

Thanks to the wonderful community of the Bee node operators who diligently gave their feedback at our Discord channels, the team was able to address the most important issues and is soon rolling out Bee v1.1.0 to the testnet.

Read more on what else was going on in July here below.

🎉 Swarm Foundation is happy to announce the next stage of the Airdrop: the selection of trusted nodes.

In this blog post, Swarm announces two important changes with respect to the final stages of the airdrop:

  1. There are over 5000 trusted nodes
  2. The amount of BZZ that will be airdropped has been increased
  3. All tokens will be airdropped directly on the xDai network, skipping the consolidation phase on Goerli

5000 trusted nodes

Due to the overwhelming success of the testnet and the seriously gigantic scale of the response to our call for node operators, the selection of trusted nodes has been expanded to…

Last month was an amazing one for the Swarm team and the Swarm Foundation. Two very important milestones were achieved, and it’s fair to say they marked the beginning of a new era of Swarm.

First, the public token sale happened on 14 June 2021. Some 25,000 more people are now proud owners of BZZ token. Second, Swarm 1.0 was launched on mainnet.

The mainnet launch was celebrated with an online event, where the dev team explained what Swarm 1.0 is and what the plans are for the nearest future. Some really nice demos from the ecosystem followed, featuring some…

Last month, Swarm released Bee 1.0, and finalised its token sale. During this incredibly busy week, other projects and tools were released. In this article, you will find an overview of the tools and projects the Bee-JS team has published.

Bee-js 1.0

Bee-js is a javascript library that exposes Bee’s decentralised storage functionalities and makes it easy to use them in javascript-based projects. A new version was released last week which fully supports the Bee 1.0 version and provides full Bee API support.

The Swarm team uses this library to build user-facing tools and web applications. It is well-tested and considered mature…

Ethereum Swarm

Swarm is a system of peer-to-peer networked nodes that create a decentralised storage. Website: https://www.ethswarm.org/
